UFC 269 is not lacking in drama. From the duality of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier's comeback story to Julianna Pena's dissatisfaction with long-term UFC women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, this game has everything. Oliveira's indomitable spirit overwhelmed the crowd supporting Poirier at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Pena silenced the fan's favorite Nunez with a victory that few people believed.

UFC entered the last pay-per-view event in 2021, and let us remember this event. Having learned a lot from Saturday’s PPV card, let’s break down the biggest storyline of UFC 269.

Oliveira and Poirier are really two aspects of the same coin. The story of the much-touted prospect of frustration, being suspected, refusing to deny, and ultimately soaring. Unfortunately, this story diverged at its climax (more on this later).

For most of these seven years, it felt like someone would cut off his wings every time "Do Bronx" was about to take off. The first is Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone. Then there are Cubs Swanson and Frankie Edgar. Then there are Max Holloway, Anthony Pettis, Ricardo Lamas and Paul Feld. Oliveira almost suffered the same fate when facing Michael Chandler and Powarier; however, he is now sober-minded (figuratively and literally) as dangerous.

Oliveira withstood a difficult test in the first round of the game against Poitiers, was immediately thrown down and repeatedly absorbed heavy punches. No matter how much damage he suffered, the UFC lightweight champion immediately fought back with his elbows and knees. In the second round, Oliveira achieved the highest position on the ground and maintained it most of the time. Oliveira started the third round with a super smooth standing back attack. Poirier's efforts to protect post-naked suffocation are commendable. Unfortunately for him, Oliveira suffocated deeper and deeper every time he adjusted. The moment in the third round of UFC 269 will be recorded in history, becoming Oliveira's first successful defense of the title. Like Chandler's battle, Oliveira went against the rising tide until the current was in his favor.

As for the other side of the coin. Poirier's story may be just one hypothesis. After successfully winning two of the three games in Conor McGregor's trilogy, Saturday the emotional favorite entered UFC 269 as a star. He scored well in the 2014 defeat to McGregor and was ready to win the UFC lightweight title after the former champion Habib Nurmagomedov retired. The Las Vegas crowd firmly supported Poirier. Even if you choose Oliveira to win, you can't deny Povarie's feeling as a champion.

Poirier caught Oliveira early and fought hard in the first round. It looks like MMA's ultimate comeback story will come true. Sadly for Poirier and his supporters, Oliveira refused to buy tickets. There is no denying that Poirier is the greatest lightweight player in history. He holds an interim UFC lightweight title and defeated McGregor (twice), Max Holloway (twice), Eddie Alvarez, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaith, Dan Hook and many others. "Diamonds" can still get the UFC gold medal, but the window is starting to close.

Pena is not the most well-deserved challenger to the UFC championship in modern history, at least not based on elite dominance. In the end, what does it mean when you kill the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. "Venezuelan Vixen" launched a fierce challenge to Nunez and finally won the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship in UFC 269. Pena was the biggest loser of the night, with a score of +575. Nunes is its biggest favorite, at -850. Pena entered the fight 1-1 in her last two games: defeating Sarah McMann and losing to Jermaine Delandami. Nunez has won more than a dozen consecutive victories: Delandami, Holly Holm, Chris Seborg, Valentina Shevchenko (twice), Ronda Russi, Misha Tait , McMann and so on.

In UFC 269, Nunes apparently faced Pena in the first round. She is a stronger and more accurate fighter, which proves this. Pena, like Oliveira later in the evening, didn't care. The challenger moved forward and launched a strike until she actually challenged the dictator of the department. Nunes and Pena hit it off quickly, and with the end of the second round, they became more sloppy. In the end, Pena defeated the famous champion. Nunes was supported and dragged into the water, and was known as one of the biggest upsets of MMA.

"Never doubt me again. Willpower, strength and determination. It will give you a place," Pena said in a post-match interview. "The world is my oyster. You really have the ability to do whatever you want in this life. I just proved it."
