Concern over plans to replace wooden windows

The application is for the "replacement of damaged timber windows to the front of the property" at Bodlondeb in Back Lane. However, councillors were told that the property is in a conservation area and council planning regulations meant such wooden windows should be replaced with "like for like."

The committee chair, Cllr Richard Edwards, and Cllr David Selby, both left the meeting while the discussion took place after declaring an interest as they both know the applicant.

Cllr Tracey Owen said she could not support the application as it was against the conservation area recommendations. "They wouldn't recommend replacing wood with plastic," she said referring to planning officers. Town councillors voted unanimously against the plans. Their views will now be considered at the county council Planning Committee meeting as part of the overall comments on the plans.
