GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- A man was critically injured in a shooting in Northeast Grand Rapids and a stray bullet struck a nearby home, breaking a picture window.

The shooting happened about 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8 along Plymouth Avenue at Matilda Street.

Grand Rapids police said one man was critically injured in the shooting.

A neighbor said he was told the injured man ran and fell into his yard at the corner of Plymouth and Matilda streets. The shooter than fled the area.

The homeowner, who didn’t want to be named, said the area is typically very quiet.

The stray bullet struck the window of a home on Plymouth Avenue, just north of Matilda Street. A woman was sleeping inside at the time, but she was not injured.

Friday afternoon, workers already were working to replace the picture window.
